NeboTitle VI:

Technology Integration for Learning & Cultural Engagement

This project is part of the Community Learning Around Sharing and Partnership (CLASP) Collaborative. CLASP is a team of Utah State University (USU) researchers and Tribal and K-12 educators across the state. We aim to explore how to sustain culture and strengthen kinship with Native youth, their families, and their communities.

As part of this work, USU and Nebo Title VI are working together to conduct a research study. The purpose of the research study is to understand better how we can integrate technology throughout the Nebo Title VI program. We want to explore how technology can support children and families learning and their cultural engagement. We seek to do this in partnership by creating fun and culturally engaging opportunities and workshops together!

An Invitation to Participate in Research

The Technology Integration for Learning & Cultural Engagement program is a partnership between Nebo Title VI and Utah State University. This partnership includes research that continues the work of the Community Learning Around Sharing and Partnership (CLASP) Collaborative. The research team is led by Dr. Breanne Litts at USU, and the research has been approved by the USU IRB (Protocol #14510). You are not required to participate in research to participate in the Nebo Title VI Program. The consent forms below provide more details about the research study.

For this research study, your child’s/family’s participation will include participation in Nebo Title VI educational activities as you normally would. The study specifically focuses on the technology integration learning experiences (e.g., lidar scanning, digital storytelling, game making) we will offer. Thus, participation could vary from single-day events to multiday workshops, depending on how you/your child chooses to participate.

During the learning experiences, your child’s/family’s participation in the study will mean that researchers may ask to audio record your conversations about what it is like to use technology. In addition, your family may be invited to participate in a focus group (roughly 60-90 minutes) to share more about your experience. If your family chooses to participate in this additional work, each participating family member (age 7+) will receive a $20 Amazon gift card.

Because your child(ren) is enrolled in the Nebo Title VI Program this year, the team at USU would like to invite your child(ren) and your family to participate in this research study.

If you are interested in participating and/or having your child(ren) participate in this study, please fill out the consent forms below.
